Coming off of a tough 35-21 loss against Centennial, the Redwood Rangers are looking to rebound in a massive way this Friday against Clovis West.

While the Ranger’s loss last week was definitely disappointing, there was one exciting outcome which was the huge game turner from running back Karson Everett ’22.

Everett rushed for a very productive 168 yards on 17 attempts.

If the Rangers will rebound on Friday it will no doubt be because #22 has another stellar game running the football.

However, Everett is not worried about putting up big stats, he just wants to get the win. He feels in order for his team to do that,  being fundamentally sound is key.

Everett says “To beat Clovis we need to stick to our fundamentals, everyone needs to do their job and we can come out with the win.”

Everett goes on to say the team has worked on all the little mistakes that beat them last week and he feels they are prepared and ready.

Wide receiver Ashton Ibarra ‘22  pretty much echoes his running backs sentiment. He says  “The team needs to execute and come ready to play in order for us to win.” Ibarra goes on to say the passing game needs to be a bit better this week.

Fullback Ty Potts ‘23 says that while last week’s game did not showcase the team’s full potential, he feels this game will show more of what this team can do.

Potts says “We didn’t play to our fullest potential which I think will make for a more crisp matchup this week.”

It’s going to be very interesting to see what kind of adjustments the Rangers come out with this week. This is definitely a team that’s determined to rewrite the wrongs of last week.

Kolby Howard ‘22 actually felt his team did relatively well last Friday. Howard says “Overall, we performed better than expected but made a few costly mistakes.”

Howard goes on to say that he’s looking forward to a very fast-paced game on Friday.

While the Rangers definitely had their fair share of mistakes on Friday, there was another glaring issue. Star linebacker Marcus Correia ‘22 was not in the game for half two.

While quarterback Frankie Alvarez ‘23 definitely feels that the team did not play a perfect game, Alvarez also feels that injuries contributed to the outcome of the game.

Alvarez says “I feel that a few players being hurt changed the tide of the game.”

Wide receiver Christian Daniel ‘22 feels that the teams are pretty evenly matched. Daniel feels that the biggest thing for his group is just to play hard.

While high school football is a game that is very unpredictable, one thing for sure, It’s going to be very hard to beat this group this week.

Daniel says “ I feel like we just have to be hungry this Friday and play hard because I know this team can do some big things.”

Kickoff is set for 7:00 Friday at the Mineral king bowl.
