Redwood High School will have its annual Homecoming parade on Friday, September 15. Main Street, Conyer Street, and Giddings Street will be closed from 2:15 p.m. to around 3:40 p.m.

Visalia, CA— On Friday, September 15, Redwood High School’s Annual Homecoming Parade will return to Downtown Visalia.
The parade will return to its traditional route down Main Street, Conyer Street, and Giddings Street.
The streets will be closed between 2:15 p.m. and around 3:40 p.m.
The 2021 and 2022 parades were in the Mineral King Bowl due to COVID-19 restrictions. Now, Redwood students are returning to tradition and displaying their floats downtown.
To close off the streets, event organizers have to apply for a permit with a traffic/barricade plan showing all moving routes, indicate the direction of the parade, show all closures, and include plans for signage.
“Street Closed to Thru Traffic” signs must be placed along with standard barricades.
In addition, they must include a petition signed by nearby property owners as per the Good Neighbor Policy.
The purpose of the Good Neighbor Policy is for event organizers to be “good neighbors” and notify affected businesses so that they are aware of the event and can plan accordingly for the day.
The petition must include the signatures of property owners affected by the street closure, showing that at least 60% favor the closure.
According to Associated Student Body [ASB] Director Hailey Aston, ASB filed the proper paperwork and worked with Officer Avalia, Redwood’s Youth Service Officer, to coordinate with the Visalia Police Department.
