On Friday, Redwood High School will host its first assembly in the newly reconstructed gymnasium.

On Friday, May 19, 2023, Redwood High School will host its annual Log Assembly. This will be the first assembly in the gymnasium since last year.
The gymnasium was closed for reconstruction for the majority of last school year. It opened briefly in time for last year’s Log Assembly, then closed shortly after.
After several delays, the gymnasium re-opened on Wednesday, May 10.
The Log Assembly is put on by Redwood’s yearbook staff. “The Log” is the name of Redwood’s yearbook, from which the assembly gets its name.
During the assembly, the yearbook’s cover is revealed, along with the year’s “Log Rulers.” Redwood Video also showcases the Log Video, a video “recap” of the year.
In addition, the seniors are recognized for their plans after high school, such as higher education and military enlistment.
Keira Zachary, ’23, is one of Redwood Yearbook’s Editors-in-Chief.
“Personally, I am stoked about [the Log Assembly being] the first assembly [in the gym],” she says. “It feels like an honor and a privilege.”
The Log Assembly will also be the first assembly that the freshman class, the class of 2026, experiences at Redwood.
Zachary says, “I’m excited for the freshman class to be able to experience the gym as well, even though it might not be as ‘homey’ as the old gym was, it’ll still be such a cool experience.”
Zachary says the cover reveal is “pretty much the peak of the yearbook chiefs’ excitement and anticipation.”
“I’m so psyched for everyone to see the Log and to experience the reveal with us! I’m also anticipating the reactions and looks of faces from the student body because that can really make or break the reveal.”
