VISALIA, CA – Every Friday at Redwood High School, students, teachers, and staff eagerly participate in Super Fan Friday, a spirited competition designed to foster unity and pride within the school community. The event encourages everyone on campus to wear their Redwood shirts, with the winning classroom earning a special reward—a pizza or donut party of their choice.

Mrs. Aston, the ASB advisor at Redwood, spoke about the impact of the event. She says, “Seeing kids in their Super Fan shirts, and making sure each student has one Redwood shirt, which I think is cool.”

Mrs. Aston emphasized that the event is not just about competition, but also about building a sense of culture within the school. “It builds school and classroom culture, allows teachers to build culture, and students to compete friendly,” Mrs. Aston said.

Taylor Langford, ‘25, the ASB President, shared a similar sentiment, expressing how Super Fan Friday brings the Redwood community together. She says, “I would definitely have to say that I think it’s so awesome, and it’s really just fun to see everyone come together to represent our school. I really do feel like when we have these SuperFan Fridays, it really brings unity to Redwood, and it shows.”

For Langford, the event is about more than just wearing a shirt—it’s about representing something larger. “It’s about the representation that you have for a school that you know you love,” she said.

Sophia Diaz, ‘26, the Spirit Coordinator, highlighted the ease with which students participate in the event.

“Super Fan Friday is a good event since it is easy to get many students to participate,” Diaz said.

The simplicity of the event, combined with the excitement of friendly competition, makes it a staple of school life at Redwood High.

Each Friday, as second period begins, classrooms across the campus become a sea of blue, filled with students proudly displaying their Redwood pride. The competition is fierce but friendly, with classes strategizing on how to maximize participation and show off their school spirit in creative ways.

Super Fan Friday is more than just a weekly event; it’s a tradition that strengthens the bonds between students, teachers, and the entire Redwood community. Through this event, Redwood High School continues to foster a culture of pride, unity, and friendly competition, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.

Mrs. Aston said, “Seeing the campus covered in blue from the teachers to the students is a sight to behold.”
