Redwood High School Counselors and the Tulare County Office of Education [TCOE] are collaborating to offer suicide prevention training to Juniors and Seniors in leadership positions at Redwood.
The training will be held on Wednesday, October 5.
Signs of Suicide [SOS] is a suicide prevention program that educates students about suicide and depression.
The program encourages all students to seek help from trusted adults whether they have concerns about themselves or a friend.
If you are a Junior or Senior leader wanting to participate, fill out the Google Form.
It is a 90-minute program that an adult will lead. Participating students will miss 2 class periods. There are spots for 60 students to go through the training.
On the training day, students will watch an educational video and participate in a guided discussion about depression, suicide, and what to do if they are concerned for a friend.
Students will also complete a depression screening that indicates whether they have symptoms that may be consistent with depression.
If they would like to speak to an adult following the presentation, they can complete a response slip indicating so.
