Kashis Butler, ’30, defensive back and running back, set the tone and scored the opening touchdown on a kickoff return of the very first play.

Butler said, “My opening touchdown gave the team and everyone in the stands a lot of hype to open up the game.”

Butler expressed that it was mainly blocking that helped him get open into space.

Butler said, “Buchanan was pretty solid. They had some good skill players; if they would have played a little better, we probably would have lost.”

Butler expressed that the team could have scored more on offense, and defense could have stopped Buchanan’s plays.

Butler said, “I feel like I could have played better on defense by preventing some of the deep balls.”

Butler felt happy with his game and felt like he could have definitely played better.

One of Redwood’s frosh quarterbacks, Cannon Muir, ’30, said, “I feel like we could have played better, especially on offense; we just didn’t execute.”

Muir expressed that he couldn’t throw the ball that much or run the ball.

Muir said, “I feel like the offense of line did fine; I just had some missed throws to my wide receivers and messed up my footwork.”

Muir expressed that our defense came in clutch and we ended up with a win.

The linebacker, number 57, Yeshua Silva, 30′, had a pretty good game helping the defense with runs up the middle and also the pass plays.

Silva said, “I think I did pretty good in the game; I could have gotten more tackles and covered their wide receivers.”

Silva expressed that Buchanan is one of the better teams in the Redwoods League but not the best.

Silva said, “The team could have done way better, offensively, defensively, both sides; special teams did amazing.”

The starting wide receiver, Nate Nieto, ’30, is a very good weapon for the Redwoods offense; however, he didn’t get the ball thrown to him once in the Buchanan game.

Nieto expressed that the team could have run the offense a little bit better, but our offense of linemen did pretty good blocking.

Nieto talked about how the frosh team could have defeated Buchanan more by getting more yards after the catch

Nieto said, “I feel like we started off hot in the game, but then later in the game we got slow, and we thought we were going to win, but it ended up being close.”
