Redwood Varsity and JV teams suit up to battle Porterville and breast cancer awareness during their annual pink-out game.
If the Rangers can pull up on top with the win, they will secure first place in the EYL.
Redwood having just recently won against their rivals, El Diamante, plan to transfer their energy from the big win to tonight’s game. To come up on top, Jozia Marquez 23′ says, “All we need to do is just work hard at practice, treat each other well, don’t blame anyone for any problems, just do our own job.”
Based on previous years, the Rangers have a good idea of what to expect from Porterville. Marquez 23′ says, “They’re strong, fast, and they’re some big guys.”
To be able to get ahold of the first place standing for the EYL, Kai Preiscendorf 23′ says, “Playing as one, playing together. Not really focusing about personal goals, just playing as a team and working all to a common goal.”
The annual pink-out game for Redwood has a big meaning for many. Preiscendorf 23′ says, “This game is really personal to me so it’s a really important game for me as well, but it’s just gonna be a great game of football.”
The importance of honoring those who have or had breast cancer is greatly known all around Redwood High School. Moses Saulsbury 25′ says, “It’s important because people have to go through it, and it’s very unfortunate. We just play our hearts out for them.”
The pink-out game will be held at the Mineral King Bowl tonight starting with kickoff at 7:30 pm.
Marquez 23′ says, “Redwood football is amazing, it’s fun. Meet some great guys. Only good things about it.”
