On Friday, September 5th, Redwood varsity football did battle with the Tulare union tribe, besides Redwood coming back from a 14-0 deficit, they fell short in what can be described as a scorigami game, with over 1,000 yards of total offense.
Redwood came in as 1-1, coming off a heartbreaking loss vs Clovis North, the Rangers were looking to bounce back against a very talented Tulare Union squad. Redwood was dug into a whole early with being down fourteen nothing, but then the offense found it’s groove and went on a 21-0 run.
Jimmie Burk, 26’ by the end of the game had a total of 247 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns, this being Burk’s third straight game with double digit rushing yards.
Redwood was leading 28-21 at halftime when Jarius Brooks, 28’ pickled off Tulare union quarterback Jordan Crisp, 26’, but was called back because of a roughing the passer penalty, which led to Crisp slinging a touchdown down the middle, a crucial play which made the game tied at halftime.

After halftime, the scores just kept on coming. Although Tulare Union did score a good amount, the defense did not do bad as Michael White, 26’, Landon Guenter, 27’ and Abram Feldstein, 26’ who totaled 3 sacks. White himself had a whopping 11 total tackles.
As the game was tied in the fourth quarter, 42-42, quarterback Jordan Arreola ran the ball, fell, and didn’t get up. They had to cut off Arreola’s shoe, and as it turns out, he had fractured his ankle; he was out for the rest of the game. Backup Luke Sanchez, 26’ came in and then threw an interception.
The tribe would score, and Redwood did not respond; Redwood fell in another heartbreaking loss, 49-42. Despite the injury, Arreola threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns. Redwood will battle Tulare Western this Friday, as Luke Sanchez can the Rangers bounce back? Show up to find out!
