Redwood dive has been a dominant force so far this season, beating both Garces and Clovis High School. Although they have won both meets, they believe that they can improve on their performance and technique in their diving abilities.
One of our Redwood divers, Gabriel Vicente (21) said that the team needs to focus, “mostly technique not necessarily better dives but learning to perfect more of the basics and then working our way up.” He thinks that they should perfect everything they do, instead of learning more dives without giving them quality.
There’s definitely a lot of room to improve for me and the team.

They all also have their own personal goals, Gabriel goes on to say that his “Twister, 5132, and reverses,” may need some tweaking and minor improvements, however he explains that his biggest strength is his inward diving ability.
Performing under pressure is also really difficult for some divers, the lights of the meets can cause them to make simple mistakes they might not make at practice. Redwood diver, Kevin Watamura, ’22, goes on to say that he, “Needs to work on not choking during competitions, especially my last one.”
Ella Howell, ’22, says she thinks, “It wasn’t the best meet, and there’s a lot to improve on”. Redwood dive is very hungry and excited to keep improving and winning as they continue to work hard. As the season goes on, we will see how the team grows and how they rise to the competition.
