Redwood High School’s varsity baseball team capped off its regular season in dominant fashion, clinching the East Yosemite League (EYL) title and setting their sights on a deep run in the Division I playoffs.

The Rangers, who overcame early-season inconsistencies, found their rhythm when it mattered most. With strong team chemistry and a deep lineup, Redwood surged to the top of the league standings behind key performances from veteran leaders and rising stars.
“We just had to put it all together,” said senior captain Cash Rico, ’25, who’s played baseball since he was just two years old. “We’ve been playing solid lately. Our lineup is strong one through nine, and the team chemistry is better than ever. Now it’s about getting those critical hits when we need them.”
Rico, who’s been a cornerstone of the team’s recent success, emphasized how the team’s camaraderie has helped fuel their late-season momentum. “Everyone’s starting to click. We’re ready to compete.”
Sophomore Wyatt McElree, ’27, echoed that sentiment, noting the team’s turnaround. “It was a slow start, but we’re back into it. We’ve been right there in every game, and now things are finally clicking,” McElree said. “It’s fun to be around this group—we all gel really well.”
The Rangers finished league play strong, rallying after a 2-2 stretch to win key games down the stretch. That resiliency, said Ben Flora, ’26, is what makes this team special. “We had a rough start, but we’re building it back up. The energy is really good,” Flora said. “The chemistry couldn’t be any better.”
Brennan Gonzalez, ’26, added, “It feels pretty good now. We’re getting into our groove at the right time. Playoffs are the goal—we’re looking to go all the way.”
With their fourth straight EYL title in hand, Redwood’s focus now shifts to the Valley playoffs, where the Rangers hope to turn their late-season surge into a championship run.
“All eyes are on Valley,” Rico said. “We’re not done yet.”
