Tonight, October 1 at 7:00 is a home game for varsity Redwood football against Lemoore, where students will be going all out in their pink gear to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Jackson Ford, ‘22 has attended a Pink-Out game in the past. Football games are a way for students to support the school in a way other than academic reasons and dressing up adds to that.
Ford says, “dressing-up definitely makes students more excited for the game.”
Not only is the pink game a theme, it also has a deeper meaning. Ford adds, “dressing-up is raising awareness because it is an effective way of calling attention to an important issue.”
As the third home game for Redwood, many students are excited for this game’s outcome.
Fernanda Moore, ‘24 has attended both the Neon game and the Homecoming game. Moore voices her love for “the energy that the student section brings.”
Moore also feels that the Pink-Out theme is a great way to show support because “it gives a purpose to dressing-up.”
The annual Pink-Out game has been a tradition for years and ASB’s Keira Bixler, ‘24 talks about the importance of the tradition.
Bixler explains other traditions that Redwood is known for, especially Cowhide because it is “arguably the biggest.” Bixler is not only excited for this Pink-Out game, but along with many other students is “beyond excited for all the festivities to come.”
The student section full of Rangers at Redwood High School is ready to contribute to this Pink-Out game by supporting and raising awareness for breast cancer with the help of their Pink spirit.
