In September 2025, albums by Big Thief, Rochelle Jordan, Liim, Jay Worthy, and Joanne Robertson shone this month and are worth checking out.

This fall season has seen a wave of new releases, so that begs the question: what’s actually good? Well, I went exploring and found 5 albums that were amazing and worth a listen.

Starting with Big Thief’s album “Double Infinity,” released September 5th, 2025 with 9 songs and a 42-minute listen, is a great album if you’re into more instrumentally focused music.
Some highlights are “Incomprehensible,” which does a really good job of painting a picture with the lyrics.
“Words” was another track that really grabbed my attention, especially about halfway through the song, where we hear a short guitar solo that really rocked.
Lastly, “Grandmother” is a 6-minute track, but every second is worth it.
The song has this calm drum background, and the vocals that follow suit are very low, which really put me in a calm mood.
The track also has a feature from Laraaji, who has supporting opera-style vocals, which I think really makes this song memorable to me.
Overall, this album is perfect for those calm, gloomy nights when you want to just relax and turn the world off for a while.

For those who enjoy R&B, Rochelle Jordan, who is under the Empire record label, on September 26, 2025, released the album “Through The Wall”, with 17 tracks and about an hour of run time, it is great.
This album has more of a fast tempo to it, but Jordan’s vocals are what really ties it all together for me.
The song “Words 2 Say” had me hooked, and I see this being a song I will come back to in the future. “Sweet Sensation” is another song that was amazing on the album.
The lyrics definitely give player vibes, but they really fit the album. The entire album definitely has a club feel to it, but in the best way possible.
Overall, I think this album has good replayability and is perfect for those fun late nights with friends.

An up-and-coming artist you should have on your radar is Liim. He just released his debut album, “Liim Lasalle Loves You” released on September 12, 2025, and it has some amazing songs on it.
The overall album has an old style of hip hop to me, with the first track starting off as a radio call, which then leads into the next song, “For The Both Of Us.” This track has an airy, upbeat sound, which then switches midway to a classic-feeling hip-hop beat.
Liims’ rapping ability really shinned on that track. Liim on this whole album has this high vocality, especially on tracks like “Important To Ya” and “Sahara Freestyle.”
Liim’s album is the perfect chill rap, which is great for his debut album, and I’m excited to see where he goes from here.

An album that really had me hyped was Jay Worthy’s “Once Upon A Time” released on the 26th of September, 2025, which had features from The Alchemist, Westside Gunn, Rick Ross, and Conductor Williams.
My overall favorite track was “The Outcome” without a doubt. This was the last track, but still had amazing verses from Westside Gunn, and The Alchemist’s producing ability really had me sad that the album was over.
Jay Worthy’s verse was outstanding and had me replaying the song nonstop.
“96 Big Body” with just Jay Worthy really proved that he is nobody to be messed around with. His rap flow is unmatched, and the beat really makes this a memorable track with influences from The Alchemist, who is also featured on the album.
“Once Upon A Time” is an album that is very old school but also new school, which is very unique but works really well for this album.

“Blurrr” by Joanne Robertson, released September 19th, 2025, has 9 songs in total, and 43 minutes of run time. This album is one you’re not going to want to skip.
The entire album has this dark acoustic guitar, which really helps set a sad, melancholy mood, but Joanne Robertson’s comforting vocals are what I think are really the most beautiful part of this album.
“Last Hay” was the song that really got to me with the guitar that sounds almost familiar, and the vocals that have a comforting feeling to them, evoking a lot of emotion.
My overall thoughts on “Blurrr” are that this album is stunning and deserves all the love it receives for how beautiful and elegant the guitar and vocals mesh. It’s truly the best gloomy album I’ve listened to in a while.
It’s perfect for that late-night car ride after a long week, and you just want to let your emotions take over.
As the fall season begins, there has been lots of great music from great artists, and I’m very excited to see what October has in store for new music.
