As the sudden feeling of normality emerges from Redwood, starting with Cowhide and now the upcoming prom, Rangers are excited and ready for the previous festivities to come back and for Redwood’s pride to be restored.
Ellie Cate, ’23 is attending the prom and says that she, “hopes it is as good as years in the past since it will be [her] first prom [she’s] able to go to.”
After a long two-year quarantine, Cate feels that they, “will try and make prom as normal as possible.” She adds, “I hope it is like the proms they held before Covid.”
Cate says, “I have no doubt in my mind it will be a fun and special night.”
Riley Yagle, ’24 is a part of Redwood ASB. Yagle says that “[prom] is a great way to really leave Covid in the past and finally move forward.”
Although COVID guidelines are being lifted, Yagle says that, “[she] doesn’t really believe that we should have the same guidelines as we have had in the past, but we need to remember what has happened.”
To advertise the long wait for the event, ASB has made a slideshow regarding the theme and what the layout will be.
“I am really happy that these seniors will have a prom since they didn’t have one last year,” Yagle says.
Kadence Hutchings, ’22 says that the upcoming prom is a “very exciting feeling knowing that you are gonna be able to go to prom after two years of the shutdown.”
Hutchings says that the process of getting the dress and being asked makes a “very special feeling you’ll never forget.”
“After two years of lockdown it’s good to have things like ‘grad night’ and actually having a graduation,” Hutchings says.
Vanessa Nino, ’22 says that the prom is “such a relief because [she’s] never had the experience.”
As this is her first experience of a prom, Nino explains how she was, “actually hoping to go [her] junior year, but since COVID, [she] wasn’t able to.”
Although the guidelines are now lifting, Nino says that, “[she] feels like [she] missed out of [her] high school experience, so [she’s] just glad [she] can have that experience now as a senior going to a prom.”
Nino says, “I don’t really have high expectations, just being with my friends is all I need.”
The prom will be hosted at the Visalia Convention Center May 7 at 7:30pm.
