The Redwood Chamber Choir returns from their retreat at Hartland camp. As a choir, not only are musical skills needed but also teamwork skills. Having a bond with one another is essential to making music together, so through their trip to the retreat they got to bond with one another and grow stronger as a group.

Eli Siegel, ’24

During their time at the retreat, they participated in many activities such as paintball, gaga ball, rope courses, and ziplining. All these activities were awesome ways for the choir to come closer and generally bond through fun games.

“Some of the activities were more than just fun things to do with your group, it taught us important lessons about working together as a team.” Says Eli Siegel, ‘24.

They learned more about one another helping the choir not only flow smoother but make it a more enjoyable experience. Working together is one of the most important parts of sounding a great choir.

“As a group, I feel like it definitely did benefit us in the end,” says Siegel.

Besides the fun activities the chamber choir took part in, they drilled and rehearsed music together. All the hours spent on their music are for an upcoming festival and their fall concert.

Danica Ramos, ’24

Alto singer Danica Ramos, ’24, says that they partook in activities such as an obstacle course which helped to build their teamwork skills. These led her to feel closer to her section and the overall choir.

Ramos says, “We (the choir) had been in class so long and working together like that, but I think getting out of a classroom setting and finding ways to work together out of the box was really helpful for us.” The retreat truly got the chamber choir out of their shell to make music together.

“There were a bunch of things that were different but unique in its own way, and in a way, I’m kind of happy about that.” Says Siegel.
