Put on some headphones and get deep in your thoughts. Only thing left is to fit the music with the mood. Here is what Aidan Duarte ’20, Evelyn Hinojosa ’21, Trey Schreiber ’20 and Mailiah Narvasa ’20 have been listening to.

Music has become a huge part of culture nowadays and everybody listens to it,  “it’s a universal language” as explained by Narvasa. Everyone knows the sound of music even if  its in a foreign language but we all have our own taste in music as well.

Aidan Duarte’s Playlist

  • Cyanide by Daniel Caesar
  • Even If It Hurts (feat. Blood Orange) by Tei Shi
  • In My Room by Frank Ocean
  • Dancing by bLAck pARty
  • El Toro Combo (feat. MAVI) by Earl Sweatshirt

His playlist consists of mostly “anything that isn’t country.” Duarte says that his experience this month contribute to what he has been listening to which is good music. “They have helped me get through this month, they really lift my spirits when I listen to them.” He listens to music based off his perception of what he is feeling.

Evelyn Hinojosa’s Playlist

  • Chilanga Banda by Café Tacvba
  • Los Flores by Café Tacvba
  • Itotiani by Chicano Batman
  • Harvest Moon by Neil Young

Hinojosa absolutely loves listening to music. Her music taste is almost all over the place! It is a very amazing taste in music.

Trey Schreiber’s Playlist

  • Let Go by Aaron May
  • Uptown Anthem by Naughty By Nature
  • Japanese Denim by Daniel Caesar
  • Study Break by Medda

His music taste consists of “something you can groove out to.” Like many, Trey says that he goes to music as an escape to just relax and have the beat enter your body.

Malayah Narvasa Playlist

  • Huey by Earl Sweatshirt
  • American Wedding by Frank Ocean
  • Last Day On Earth by Los Retros
  • Dirty Dreamer (XXX) by Hot Flash Heat Wave
  • Hydrocodone by Cuco

Her music taste consists of a mix of rap and indie music. She feels that “even if you don’t understand the language in the music, you could still understand the feeling of it.”

All of these are a great taste and many seem to enjoy songs similar to these. When it comes to music we have to break it down to the feeling of it. Music creates emotions and it helps make memories with these emotions.

What’s on your playlist? Make a playlist and jam out because there’s no better time to listen to music than now. Wherever you are or whatever you’re doing, music is in the wind.

You can listen to all these songs on the Redwood Gigantea Spotify
