The 67th Cowhide game has arrived and is to be held on October 28th in the Mineral King Bowl. The whole school has chipped in to bring the Cowhide game to life.
As long as the Cowhide tradition has been alive the football game is one of the biggest factors.
Senior Varsity player, Pj Meyers ‘23 says “Before coming to Redwood, I would hear the hype about Cowhide and now I realize how special it is to be a part of the Cowhide tradition.”
Meyers says, “With this being my last Cowhide game, I feel saddened by the realization of playing my last Cowhide, but I am ecstatic to play the game and for the future of Redwood.”
A various amount of time goes into preparing for the big game. Moses Burk ‘24 says, “With the loss from last year we have been waiting to play them again. We have been preparing all season to play and get the hide back.”
The halftime show is a collaborative performance between the arts at Redwood. All the groups involved have to work around each other to make sure it runs smoothly.
Dance force has been preparing for the big day since summer but recently began to clean the routine up. Rozenthal Ramos ‘24 says, “Cowhide is so different because it’s such a fun tradition and everyone always brings the energy.”
Brooke Layne ‘23 a four year member of Dance Force says, “I’m most excited to do our halftime show as always, I love performing.”
Both of the rival schools’ bands combine to create music during the halftime show. Luciano Noguera ‘24, “We’ve had [new] music for about two weeks…we’re all ready to perform.”
He says, “The sense of community makes the Cowhide tradition worth it, it’s just people supporting people.”
