The photographer came away in good condition minus a few scrapes. His camera lens, though, suffered near fatal injuries.

Redwood High School– Longtime Redwood teacher, Mr Miller, was a little shook up at the end of the Cowhide game when he was involved in the aftermath of a tackle.

Dallas Harris, #15, had just intercepted a pass and was swiftly running down the sidelines when at about the Pioneer 35 yard line, Harris was pushed out of bounds at full speed. The momentum from the tackle carried out of bounds and Miller was caught up in the scuffle.

Miller had a few scrapes but is in perfect shape otherwise.

Miller was pushed to the ground and the camera he was holding flew across the track, damaging his Nikon 70-200 2.8 G lens. The lens is valued at approximately $2,000. It was his personal lens and does not belong to the school.

The lens will be sent out for repair, although the outlook isn’t good.

A small ceremony will be held for the lens on November 5th at lunch in room 207.

Students are encouraged to come sign the guestbook and share some memories of the lens and her service to Redwood High School.

The Rangers went on to defeat Mt Whitney 28-0.

Miller didn’t let this excitement keep him from his duties and traditions. He went to In-N-Out for a Double Double after the game with his daughter Gwyneth, an RHS Dance Force member, and then went home to edit his galleries.

The galleries were posted by 1:30 on Saturday. They can be seen here and here.

Miller teaches AP Literature, Journalism, and Photography. He has worked at RHS for 24 years.
