The whole school came and saw the True Ranger assembly on Monday, October 15th in the LJ Williams Theater.  Melanie Rodriguez ‘22 is a True Ranger, but just a “little bit more special”, says Mr. Marroquin because she won the award for the Math Department.

At first Rodriquez was actually pretty scared when she found out because she would have to go up in front of the school.  She just wanted to get it over with. However, as she got up there she became really happy with all the applause. Rodriguez explained how, “The award made me feel more proud and important than before.”

Mrs. Spalding is the math teacher who nominated her. It was definitely a surprise to Rodriguez when she found out because she didn’t even know this award was in existence, but she said, “It makes me feel recognized….I am maybe more understanding with math”, and she knows it shows with her grade.

Now, Rodriguez feels a little more important, and her view of math class and Redwood hasn’t changed all that much. School doesn’t seem all that different to her and she has always enjoyed her math class, so that hasn’t changed either. At this point, school is just another normal day (besides all of the special events at Redwood). Despite that, Melanie Rodriguez is a TRUE Ranger so, we may come upon another not so regular day.
