For the Gigantea ,us as editors, strive to help our writers succeed and dig deeper into every kind of student's life at Redwood. An editor's responsibility is to assist writers along the way and guide them as well as writing stories of our own. We supervise and coach seven staff members, which comes with challenges such as communication and being stuck when first writing stories.

Reflection
This is the most important part. Look at the reflections of each of your team's writers. Identify areas for growth for the team. Set 3-5 second semester goals for your writing team. Provide the goal AND the reason why it is important. Also, provide a sentence or two to determine how you will evaluate the completion of this goal. Example:
- One goal I have for my writers next semester is that we will do a better job of talking to a diverse group of people for our stories. We do an adequate job of talking to student athletes, but we don't always get the coach's voice and presenting those perspectives is important. For our second semester stories, I will make sure to encourage my writers talk to a coach, and before we publish a story I will make sure we have that perspective.
- A second goal I have for our team is to incorporate more graphs and charts into our reporting. This is important because we can tell a deeper story with stats. The way I will implement and evaluate this goal, is when we brainstorm stories, I will make sure to discuss with writers how we have an expectation for this new form of information sharing.
- A third goal I would like to set for our writers is to start to form more open-ended questions. In a successful interview, the writer is able to ask questions that cause follow-up questions to be be asked, building upon the previous one. Doing this allows the writer to dig deeper into the interview to grab fun or valuable information that can be utilized in being a highlighted factor in the story to grasp the overall reader's attention. A journalist's goal is to inform this is depended on the response from asking the who, what, where, when, and most importantly why. To help achieve this goal we will go over what are the most important questions to ask in an interview and sit down with the writers and brainstorm these questions as a team before sending them off on their interview.
- A fourth goal we would like to set for our team going into this new semester is to stress the importance of obtaining pictures for each writer's story. One picture for the cover photo as well as a few to embed in the story itself. Last semester we've had an issue with some writers having their stories finished however, they're cutting it close to their deadline or meeting their deadline overdue and yet to still not have pictures ready. To fix this on the writer's notepads they could create a to-do list to check off each of the components they have completed in the process of publishing their story to be more organized, obtaining pictures being one of them. If the writer is unsure if they are able to get pictures for a specific story we will remind them to let us know ahead of time.
- Lastly, meeting deadlines is an important goal that needs to be set for the second semester. Especially when the story has a strict deadline like the magazine or the newspaper. We don't want the design people to have to stress and work fast last minute on a story that should have already been completed a few days prior. in order to fix this from being an ongoing issue we will do more check-in talks to see where the writer is at in the process of completing their story.
