Redwood has welcomed three new math teachers to this new school year. These teachers give insight on how it feels to be a new teacher at Redwood and they share some interesting things about themselves.
Mr. Jones has been a teacher for 10 years and now teaches Integrated Math 1 at Redwood.
As a new teacher at Redwood, Jones is adjusting to our school.
He says, “There are lots of students, lots of teachers, and a lot of new stuff to learn.” He adds that overall his experience has been “pretty good”. Jones has wanted to be a teacher since he was a little kid and his dreams came true.
Outside of school, Mr. Jones works for the 49ers stadium on the weekends. He also likes to go fishing occasionally.
Jones talks about his goals in life and he says, “My goals now are to just watch my kids succeed.”
Ms. Vargas used to be a student at Redwood. She now teaches Integrated Math 3 at Redwood.
Vargas says “it feels good to be a new teacher at Redwood” and that “it is really one of the best schools because the school culture is amazing.”
She adds that she enjoys “coming back as a teacher and experiencing the culture again.”
What Vargas loves the most about Redwood is that “kids are really involved.”
Outside of school, Vargas likes to work out, go to the mountains, hike, read, and spend time with family.
This is Mr. Hernandez’s first year of teaching and he is really excited to be a teacher at Redwood. Mr. Hernandez teaches Integrated Math 2.
Hernandez got his education from Reedly College and Fresno State and now works for Redwood at the age of 22.
Hernandez says his favorite thing about Redwood is “the school spirit.” He adds that “the community is so strong and tight-knit.” So far his time here has felt, “really welcoming.”
A fun fact about Hernandez is that he has a pet ringed neck dove and a dog.
