Jazmine Rodriguez has a background in academics by volunteering at schools, being a substitute teacher, tutoring students, and leading parent workshops. She looks forward to getting to know Redwood High School.
Redwood High School has appointed Jazmine Rodriguez as one of the intervention counselors. She has worked at Redwood for over 3 months. Her last name will change to Martin, coming back from summer.
Jazmine Rodriguez, Redwood High School counselor, says, “I chose to come work at Redwood because I really enjoyed counseling high school students while living in San Diego, so when the opportunity presented itself at Redwood, I jumped on it as I have heard great things about Redwoods Counseling team.”
Rodriguez has worked at schools since her first year of college at the age of 17, tutored students at the MLK library at San Jose State, volunteered in various schools helping elementary students learn how to read, worked as a substitute teacher, and led parent workshops while finishing her counseling program at the University of San Diego.
Rodriguez says, “My time here thus far has been amazing. I feel so welcomed and supported by the administrators, the counseling team, teachers, and the kind students… I appreciate how kind and happy our students are. It brings a smile to my face each time a student tells me to have a good day or simply asks how I am doing.”
Over the school year, Rodriguez is “looking forward to getting to know [Redwood] students” and is “excited to join the fun activities Redwood offers and take part in traditions Redwood is known for.”
“I was in awe of ‘Love Week.’ I could not believe the level of detail the ASB student body put in to make sure everyone at school feels loved. It was a beautiful week to be a part of and I felt all the love,” says Rodriguez.
Rodriguez has “felt so welcomed since day 1” and says, “I am excited to get to know our students and staff! If you see me around don’t be afraid to say hello! We can chat about coffee, college tips/questions, and food.”
