Nolan Pritchett, ’21, and McKenna Pressley, ’19 have both played a major part in creating new clubs here on campus. Membership for both are looking high.
The Surf Club is one of Redwood’s newest additions. The purpose of creating this club according to, Pritchett, ’21, is that “Redwood lacked a carefree, fun club that everyone could be a part of.” Some of the club’s plans for the year include having a surfing trip to the Central Coast and hosting fundraisers to earn money. To help make everyone feel included, Pritchett, ’21, plans on taking every member’s opinion into account.
The Live 2 Free Club is also a new club here at Redwood. Pressley, ’19, said that Live 2 Free was her calling after a trip to Thailand where she witnessed human trafficking first hand. She wants the outcome of her club to be a helping hand in shrinking the amount of enslaved people, which is currently 44.8 million. One of the biggest challenges faced by the club was helping everyone to understand that human trafficking happens right here in Tulare County. To help make everyone feel included, Pressley, ’19, wants to make it clear that anyone can join the club and anyone can help out with fundraisers; regardless if you’re a student at Redwood or not.
The first meeting of Live 2 Free is August 31st in Room 29.
