As the school year begins online, it may seem like there’s no way to get involved at Redwood, but these new clubs prove otherwise. Although there are only two new clubs this year, they both offer amazing opportunities for students to get involved with their community.

The Red Cross club was started by Lily Stetson, ‘21, and Sarai Mata, ‘21. Their goal for the club is to keep students involved by helping  their community and other places that need help around the world. Mata says, “The Red Cross club helps students get out there and be a part of their community in different ways such as fundraisers and volunteer work.” This year has been very intense with the start of the global pandemic, the fires, and many more. Red Cross club is one great way to be the change in the community.

Stetson says, “There’s going to be first aid kit drives, making cards for veterans, blood donors during the holidays, and fundraisers for donations.” If you’re interested in The Red Cross club, follow their instagram @redwoodredcrossclub and help be a part of the change that our world needs.

Another great club coming to Redwood this year is the Future Health Professionals started by Eric Chavez, ‘22. Chavez started this club “to create a group of interested students that can come together and learn more about the world of healthcare.” This club is very unique to Redwood because we have nothing similar to it. It’s a great way to grow your knowledge and learn more about the medical field. Chavez says, “I was determined not only to have a connection to healthcare professionals myself but I wanted to include others in this experience.”

Many students are interested in pursuing a career in the medical field themselves, this club is a great way to get involved with healthcare professionals and grow your knowledge in the field yourself. If interested in joining this club, follow @redwood.fhp on Instagram for further information.

These two new clubs are great for students looking for something interesting to do while attending school online. Contact these clubs Instagram pages for further information and questions.
