Ms. Velasco discusses why Sophomores should sign up to be Scicon counselors, and the benefits of being one.

By: Aiden Harris

Ms. Velasco recruits students to counsel and “watch over the sixth graders, lead activities, monitor the sixth graders, help make sure the proper rules are followed, talk to them and help ensure they have the perfect scicon experience.

Ms. Velasco also mentioned that going to Scicon for a week counts as 80 hours of community service, which is good to put on a college application.

Being a counselor is a great opportunity to learn good leadership and responsibility skills. It is also a good way to see if you want to be a school teacher or work with kids in general.

The requirements for signing up to be a counselor are having a C or better in all of your classes, good attendance, and good behavior.

If you meet the requirements, then you should definitely sign up to be a counselor. For more information, go see Ms. Velasco in the front office.
