Ms. Aguilar has been the ASB advisor for the pass two years while also being a history teacher. Another fun fact: She was ASB President her senior year at Redwood too so as you can assume this was a very personal job position for her. This year she has come to the conclusion to leave ASB and focus fully on teaching history next year.

Two years ago, Aguilar’s vision for ASB was to “create an inviting and exciting atmosphere for students to feel welcome and comfortable at Redwood.” Aguilar feels as if “there’s always room for improvement.” Her ultimate goal is to make everyone at Redwood feel at home. Through her years of teaching ASB she has learned to “be compassionate and sometimes let go of control.” She truly cares for all students and has come to realize that everyone has their own story. She feels “incredibly lucky” to have experienced ASB as a student and as an advisor. She says, “This position is not always easy, it is stressful, but it is so rewarding.” Aguilar doesn’t quite have a plan yet, but she says, “My plan is enjoying the remaining days with my ASB kids and living in the moment.” What Aguilar will miss the most about teaching ASB is “How I get to see the ASB students evolve.” She’s excited and proud to see their transition of their focus from themselves to the student body.

Junior and future ASB secretary, Kylea Moshier has had Ms. Aguilar for ASB for her two years. What Moshier will miss the most about Aguilar is how “she is somebody that I can go to in any situation who I know will listen.” However Moshier will miss Aguilar greatly, she is excited to meet the new ASB director. She “can’t wait to see how we build on past traditions and also leave our mark on Redwood with this new leadership.” Moshier says “we are always pushing ourselves to grow and really make Redwood the best that it can be.” What Moshier loves the most about Aguilar is her honesty and dedication. Aguilar was loyal and understanding to every one of her students, and Moshier will definitely miss that.

Senior and this year’s ASB president, Brianna Lopez has also had Ms. Aguilar for her two years. Lopez says “she was really approachable and super easy to talk to, not just about problems you were having in ASB but problems maybe you just had in your own life.” She also says “she offered a mentorship that felt like a friendship and I am so glad that I had the reassurance that no problem was ever too big to get through and I will be able to leave with that mindset.” What Lopez loved most Aguilar is how “she constantly encouraged us to be our best selves and understood that ASB is a part of my life, not my whole life so she was understanding about sports and other extracurriculars.”

Overall, Ms. Aguilar will be greatly missed by all of her ASB students.
