We all know about Mr. Cox’s retirement. Arguably one of the most responsible and devoted Redwood teachers, how do students really feel about it? Some sad, happy, mad? Also, what about that new auto teacher? Well, let’s find out.

Lennon Ramirez ’27, a 3-year auto student: freshman and sophomore years with Cox, and finishing senior year with Mr. Goldsworthy, said, “Mr.Cox was very close to all of his kids, always helping out with school and especially getting their backstory and understanding why they are them.”
Ramirez said his new auto teacher, Mr. Goldsworthy, is a “laid-back and kind teacher, and he is pretty cool.”
Aaric Gonzalez ’27 is another 3-year auto student for his freshman, sophomore, and junior years. Gonzalez said “Cox carried the true RANGER definition; he cared for all of his students. He was an amazing teacher who taught me so much, so in case anything were to ever happen to my car, I would know what to do.”
Gonzalez said he doesn’t have room to talk about how he teaches due to him not being in auto anymore: “I can’t really talk on how Goldsworthy teaches, but from my first impressions he looks like Ranger material.”
Brayden Stark ’29 is an auto student for his Freshman year with Cox and now for his sophomore year with Mr. Goldsworthy.
Stark said, “Cox was pretty laid back and cool; he was one of my favorite teachers.” Brayden is now in auto with a new face, Mr. Goldsworthy. “He is cool as well, pretty nice and laid back as well, reminds me of Cox a lot.”
Cox was one of the many teachers who took the time to dive in and get personal with his kids so they could get along better and have a better bond as student and teacher. He’s taught so many of us life skills, and not just in the automotive world.
But now Mr. Goldsworthy is responsible for that job. As of now, he is doing a great job by keeping the kids hands-on and hardworking, all while making sure they are having as much fun as possible.
