Over the past week, Associated Student Body (ASB) students have been campaigning and getting votes for next year’s ASB officers.

During March 31st through April 4th, the candidates got to put up posters around campus, post on their social media, and have their friends help out to get the word out for what position they were running for.

Then, on April 4th, voting was open for all students from 8:30 a.m. until 3:40 p.m. Around 4 p.m., the winners were announced on the @rhsrangers Instagram.

Sophia Diaz, ’26, will be Redwood’s ASB president in the upcoming school year. She says that she is really excited about becoming ASB President next year. She hopes that she can get more people involved with school spirit and motivate the student body.

“I’m very excited. I’m very nervous, but in a good way. I definitely want to include more people and, like everything, I want to definitely get freshmen more involved. I also want to make more events to really motivate the student body and get everyone excited for the next school year,” Diaz says.

Chloe Miller, ’27, is going to be next year’s social media coordinator. She says, “I’m very happy and very excited that I get to do that next year.”

“I just love everything, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m really excited, and I’m going to try to keep everyone as informed as possible through the social medias,” Miller says.

Diego Bernal-Camino, ’26, will be the ASB treasurer next year. “[I feel] great. Just going to have fun [my] senior year,” Bernal-Camino says.

Sara Sozinho, ’26, is going to be the ASB Vice President. She says that she feels super excited and is ready to take on the role.

Sozinho’s plans for next year are to work together with everyone for a great year. She says, “I plan to work well with the rest of the exec board and to come up with lots of great ideas.”

Sophie Del Villar, ’27, is the secretary. Alexis Seals, ’27, and Xavier Legaspi, ’27, are both co-spirit coordinators for next year.

Legaspi says, “I’m really excited. I think next year’s going to be an amazing year.”

Legaspi doesn’t know plans for next year quite yet, but he is starting to get an idea about a beloved Redwood tradition, Cowhide.

“So far, not yet, but once I start knowing, like when the football games are, I will start planning, but I’m excited. I think Cowhide might land on Halloween, which I know is upsetting to some people, but I feel like we could do a lot of cool ideas for that one,” Legaspi says.

Brooklyn Anderson, ’26, will be Redwood’s rally commissioner. She says, “I am so beyond excited. This is my favorite position in ASB, and I really didn’t think I would ever be doing this, let alone be in ASB. I’m just really excited.”

Anderson wants to bring back the Ranger spirit. “I just want to bring that Redwood spirit back and make my senior year the best year possible for my class and like, be able to be an example for all of the kids younger than us and, I don’t know, I just want to reinvent the Redwood spirit in a way,” says Anderson.
