While most students enjoy grabbing something to eat or drink from Redwood’s surrounding lunch possibilities, no one stops to consider how these stores feel about the countless amounts of students that go in and out of them everyday.

Stores frequented by students around Redwood’s campus are mostly Docs, 4 Seasons, Maximos.

Students actively promote these restaurants through social media by posting a story on Snapchat, or making a TikTok about the food.

Students have long been an important part of the local food industry. Their presence not only adds an energetic feeling, but also brings a sense of home to these places.

Docs, being one of the closest food places to Redwood, is evidently one of the more convenient/crowded places for students to eat at during lunch.

Avery Yagle, ‘26, says that she enjoys Docs because, it’s “super close to Redwood so it’s nice going with friends.”

A manager at Docs says, “The good thing about it is you know, we make money.” They express that “there is no negative,” about the presence of the students. Docs shares their appreciation of students by making sure to give them a student discount with every order.

Emerson Minnick, ‘26, says, “I like their burritos. For a pretty fast food kind of establishment [their selection is] pretty varied.”

Maximos managers say that feels that they, and the establishments down Main Street, “heavily rely on the student presence for the downtown food distribution.”

“We’re happy to help the Visalia School District by giving the local students a second opportunity to have a choice on where they want to eat. We value the amount of revenue we receive from the local student body,” says a Maximos Manager.

Maximos says that they would not want to change anything, but shares one downside. “I would like to go set up shop at the school itself to give students easier access to having the food, not only for the Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, but also the Freshmen that can’t go off campus.”

A positive for Yagle about Maximos is that it is, “something quick to get especially since it’s so close.”

4 Seasons is another very popular place that students frequent during lunch that is close to the campus.

They notice that during the holidays it can be really slow. They say, ” We really appreciate all that we get at lunch. It gets really busy here.”

Nathan Webster, ‘26, says that he enjoys 4 Seasons because it is, “super cheap, the food is actually really good, [the service is] super fast but you have to get there before everyone else gets there or else you never get your food. They have good customer service.”
