Going to college is a big change for most students, and it is very scary since you move far from students you know, so you can go to the college you want.

Alex Neal, ’25, says “I’m not ready for high school to end. Going to college [is going to be] a big change, and I’m kind of scared that the people I know I’ll lose connection with them.”

Leaving high school and going to college also brings many opportunities. Some high schoolers got into good colleges or even the colleges they wanted to go into.

Jesus Rivera, ‘25, says “I haven’t gotten back from a lot of my colleges that I applied to, but I think right now my top option that I got accepted into the other day was CSU Fullerton.”

Many students feel sad that they will be leaving high school this year, but some feel happy that they will be moving onto something much greater.

Rivera also says “It’s very bittersweet. I’m excited to go away start my new life, but I’m also kind of sad because I love high school and I love Redwood.”

Some students don’t want to go to college, but instead want to do something else with their life which doesn’t involve school.

Gabriel Saenz, ’25, says, “I want to join the United States Marine Corps.”

After being asked how he feels about leaving this year, Saenz says, “[I feel] kind of sad. I feel like I didn’t have a lot to experience during my high school career.”
