JV girls dominate the two games and explain their unstoppable energy.

On Tuesday, January 16th, the Junior Varsity girl’s soccer team played against Monache and brought home another win for Redwood High School with a smoking score of 9-0.

Allison Soriano, ’26, number six on the field, says she stays motivated throughout the game by “focusing on myself. What [also] motivates me is just how we communicate with each other and are all motivated to win the game and how we are all supportive of each other.”

After winning a game Soriano celebrates by “being happy when we win but I celebrate by being positive and not letting the mistakes I do bring me down. I also feel proud of myself [after winning because] I worked hard to put up a good game.”

Soriano reflects on the game against Monache and says she could have done better on “the passes and speaking up more with my teammates. Also, the way I could have fought for the ball “

To stay focused on the field during the game, Soriano says “I usually think about what pass I’m going to make after I do another or where to position myself in the field.”

Adrianna Lino, ’26, number five on the field, says after she feels “happy that we won and I think we all did good connecting with each other and making sure we all did good passes with each other and making sure we all did good runs.”

During the game, Lino says she could have focused more on “taking more shots but at the same time it wasn’t a great team so we had more time to work as a team and get good passes.”

To stay motivated on the field, Lino says “my team kept me motivated. They are good supporters and everyone on the bench was also really supportive.”

Lino says her performance was “pretty good. I had a couple of shots and there is always room for improvement but I think I did pretty well.”

“I think we could have communicated more. There was not a lot of communication and we could have connected more as a team,” says Lino when speaking about how the team could have improved against Monache.

On Friday, January 19th JV Redwood girls played Golden West on the Redwood field. JV girls came home with a 7-0 win. Playing with great passes and pushing up whenever the ball went up, persevering through, and having a great finish.

Adriana Soria-Rosales, ‘27, says “Our team did great with passing and moving up the field this game.”

Soria-Rosales says “Golden West was aggressive they were hard to get to the ball.”

Looking back and realizing, she says “ I feel like I played okay my shots were a little off but I think I connected with my teammates well.”

“We could’ve improved on talking more to each other tonight, there wasn’t much of it, definitely something we can improve on”

She says “The energy tonight was high, we had a lot of people come out and watch today’s game it was good, the bench was loud, and it was fun.”

Harlyn Kausen, ‘27, Says that “Golden West played okay, they weren’t the worst, not the best either.”

Kausen looks back at her own personal performance and says “ I think I gave good through balls and passed well.”
“Something we could improve on as a team was probably our shots.”

Keeping a positive attitude Kausen says “Even though I didn’t score I got an assist.”

Aubrey Colburn, ’27

Aubrey Colburn, ‘27, says “I think Golden West did good a little sloppy, not in a mean way, they have an excellent coach, who is actually also my coach, but they played good. I had a lot of fun going against them.”

Colburn reflects and says “I think I did okay there were some parts that I didn’t like that I did like my touch was not great but I did okay.”

“Something that we could’ve improved on was the clusters, we were clumped up together, or like people weren’t talking so they kept on running into each other.”
