Jaxon Mayo ‘24, states that golfing is his passion, and that he’s, “ready to take on this upcoming season head on with the help of his team.”

Mayo says, “I have consistently been playing golf since my sophomore year . . .”

He is currently a player on Redwood’s Varsity Golf Team, Mayo has been playing golf since he was little, but started playing for Redwood after quitting baseball his Freshman year. 

Always having an interest in sports, quitting baseball made a big impact on Mayo’s life, and when looking for something to pick up he found golf. 

But what motivated Mayo in the first place to go for golf is his brother. Mayo says, “My brother’s a pro at golf, so I just decided to follow in his footsteps.” 

Long term wise, Mayo is hoping to win a scholarship this year and continue playing golf in college. 

Mayo’s top college he hopes to get in to is California State University Fullerton.

Mayo also shares the what biggest reward from playing golf means to him, he says, “Being able to share my success with the team, it’s really nice to not just see myself succeed, but to see them as well . . .”

This year Mayo says he has already been putting in effort over summer to better his skills and prepare for the upcoming season starting February.

Once the golf season hits, Mayo says there’s not really any days off.
