The pack of white-shirted students with their slushy machine and megaphones was hard to miss on Club Day, August 21st, 2019.

The Future Business Leaders of America is a club for everyone. And we mean everyone. Whether you aren’t sure of your pathway, whether you’re 100% sure, whether you need to practice being “out there” more, whether you simply want your voice heard and a chance to work alongside ambitious individuals just as yourself, this is it. Take note! This is FBLA.

FBLA is the place for growth and development. Tap into speech, coding, animation, business ethics, graphic design and more. Hone the skills you already possess, or dabble in different areas of expertise to find what you like. Learn business ethics and become exposed to a world outside of the everyday school curriculum. And most importantly, strengthen the confidence within yourself!

While FBLA can be intimidating at times, it is an environment where abilities shine, confidence blooms, students bond, trust is developed, and belief in ones’ self is formed. The community is close knit. People grow together. Everyone’s always helping everyone. Like a family, minus the frequent squabbles.

“I’d say FBLA is a tight group. Super close.” says Liam Goss, ’20, FBLA member and Winner of 2019 Fall Championship Award for coding and programming.

Mr. Avila, the advisor of FBLA, says, “Students leave FBLA feeling more confident. Kids come in super shy and by graduation are able to tackle Cornell, Stanford, USC, and NYU.”

Competing is a big part of FBLA. An optional aspect of the club, but an important part nonetheless. Mr. Avila, attests that there are over 60 competitive events, and some students are considered best in the nation, winning 1st place in 3D Animation National Finals. One of the best awards that FBLA has won was getting 9th at state as a whole chapter.

If you are interested in joining FBLA, you can visit their website at http://www.redwoodfbla.org/ or visit room 74 and meet with Mr. Avila to find out more.
