Recently, every form of Drama (Advanced Drama, Drama Club, etc.) has come together to create a new play for the coming fall season for the audiences of Redwood High School and Visalia at the Rotary Theater. It’s A Wonderful Life is the new fall play for audiences of all ages to come see later this year, November 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
It’s A Wonderful Life is the story about a man named George Bailey contemplating suicide until an angel from Heaven above comes down, stops him and shows him that life is worth living.
Mrs. Galvan is once again directing and producing another great play for all to see. The cast is consisted of over 50 people!
Caleb Feliz, ’22, who’s in the play, disclosed, “I’m excited and I’m very fortunate to work with this host of talented actors in this community of Drama. I believe our performance will be a memorable one, especially for me because this is my first play I’ve participated in my academic career”.
Viv Silvas, ’20, also sheds some light onto the new play. “It feels like I belong to something. A team that truly cares about each one of its members. Even if your part may be small, everyone has a sense of belonging and purpose. It’s a huge blessing to have such an amazing program at this school that caters to people all over campus,” Viv stated.
The lead, Gilbert Rivas, ’19, said about how the play was going, “Right now, it’s still in the early stages, but it’s still going pretty good. We already built a pretty good synergy, you know, among the cast and it’s not particularly large one so it’s really easy to get to know everyone pretty well.”
He also said when asked how he felt about his lead role as George, “I got pretty lucky on that, it was down to me and another very skilled actor, so I’m lucky that I got it because we both, I feel like, we both did really good at the auditions.”
He continued with, “I’m really into this character, I haven’t seen the movie in a really long time, but I do remember really liking George in the movie so I’m super excited to be able to play him in a radio rendition.”
It’s A Wonderful Life will be coming out November 1st, 2nd & 3rd of 2018 and good luck to those who got cast in the new play. Break a leg! If you’re interested in the play, stay tuned for more updates from Drama. To buy tickets, please contact Mrs. Galvan at room 15 on Redwood’s second campus Sierra Vista across the street.
