After distance learning students and teachers will have to go back to school because of the need for in campus learning by following certain safety precautions. These precautions may include; wearing a mask, stay six feet apart, and no or less physical contact with others. Whatever these precautions are they will aid in keeping everyone safe and healthy but most importantly protected from attaining covid 19.

“I think it will be really weird, but also pretty interesting,” Daniela Torres, ‘23 says about social distancing which is a safety precaution that should be practiced when going back to school. This is a nice point because if students and teachers can make taking the precautions interesting it will allow them and everyone else to possibly take it more seriously rather than if it was not seen as an important task.

Torres, ‘23 also adds “ I think it will be a bit difficult but we’ll adjust eventually.” Which can give hope for when the time comes where we have to go back to on campus learning.

Ciera Alvarez ‘24 says “Following safety precautions will be easy and very necessary for keeping our students and staff safe and healthy.” when asked about how she feels about having to follow the safety precautions when we go back to school. This also should help encourage students to feel more confident in becoming precautious when we all go back to regularly physically attending school.

Shannon Fox is one of the Algebra teachers at Redwood High School and when asked if she thinks masks should be able to have different designs on them she says “I think masks can be colorful, as long as they are not in violation of dress code .”

Fox also says “The hardest part of social distancing is that students like to be close to their friends and it will be difficult for them to keep their distance.” when asked about the safety precautions and social distancing.

David Clements is one of the English teachers at Redwood and he says “I honestly think the precautions are in place more to protect the teachers. Typically students are young and healthy and face a much smaller risk.” when talking about if he believes the safety precautions will be necessary when we go back to school. Clements makes a good point here because teachers are a necessity since without them the students would not be able to learn.

Clements also adds “The hardest thing will be staying 6 feet away from a student that needs help in class.” This point from Clements is very true because upclose contact when teaching is a must in classrooms.

The safety precautions students and teachers will have to follow when going back to school should do more harm than good because when following them correctly many lives will be saved.
