On Friday, February 24, 2023, Redwood High School Principal Dr. Amanda Richard provided updates on the ongoing gymnasium construction.
VISALIA CA– Dr. Richard expected the locker rooms to open the week of Monday, February 13, 2023.
Due to plumbing issues, the opening was delayed. The toilets would not flush properly due to water pressure issues and problems connecting the hot water.
Dr. Richard says, “We wanted to make sure that all of those things were done correctly before we had kids in there.”
Regarding the gymnasium, Dr. Richard said the new floors are now being laid down. The new floor should be completely installed within the next three to four weeks.
“Once the floors are in place, they’re [going to] start painting [the floor], putting on the [court] lines, all of the designs, and lacing it,” Dr. Richard says. Lacing is a method used to connect flooring.
Once the floors are complete, the construction team will begin installing the new bleachers.
“We’re actually in a really good place right now,” Dr. Richard says.
According to Dr. RIchard, the gymnasium construction was supposed to be completed in March. “That’s not [going to] happen,” she says.
“Right now, we are hoping for the beginning of May. We would like to have our log rally in there, and we would like to have graduation in there. I can’t make any promises, but that’s our goal.”
