Link Crew is a club and class where students can help find themselves into socializing and supporting each other as well as the school.

Valerie Ortiz, ’27, said “I wanted to help freshmen be involved, because I know it’s a huge change, and I want to help them feel like they’re a part of the campus and the community.”

Many students don’t know what Link Crew is or what they do.

Ortiz also said, “Link Crew is basically an ASB but it’s tailored towards freshmen, and we’re here to help them just become involved, feel like they’re a part of a community, and to know that they have leaders to help them with anything.”

Some of Ortiz’s responsibilities as the vice president of Link Crew is to make sure she’s there for the president and maintain a secretary for the team, she tries to make sure the events are coordinated and that the president has all the documents they need. And overall she oversees any activities they put together, and hopes to ensure that the club is successful.

Zoe Schugardt, ’27, is the president of the Link Crew club, she said that she wants to be able to support freshmen like how she needed for her freshman year.

Schugardt said, “My responsibility is to take charge and just make sure that all of the events and everything we have planned out go smoothly, and to just have a good year for the freshmen.”

Amaya Chavez, ’27, said, “Link Crew is a good opportunity to help freshmen become more involved in the school and to get to know Redwood as a school spirit, and I really like to make connections with a ton of different people that also love being a part of Redwood which is very special to me.”

Chavez’s role for Link Crew is the media manager, she represents the class and the club’s entire media.

Bianka Bessenger, ‘27 is the secretary for the Link Crew club. She said how Link Crew is a great way to get involved on campus and get community service hours, and how it helps a lot of new freshmen feel included.

Bessenger said, “I have to take meeting notes, I have to arrange calendars and check with ASB and other clubs to make sure there are no overlapping dates with them. I have to make sure that we have our finances set and that there’s nothing that we’re missing before we start new events.”

Bessenger adds, “I was invited to join Link Crew during my freshman year because I love making people feel welcome and enjoying their time while they’re in high school because the time does go by really fast.”
