Redwood High School recently welcomed Principal Amanda Richard, the school’s first female principal in over 20 years.

During her first month at Redwood, Dr. Richard made an effort to visit classrooms, attend school events, and get involved in the school’s culture.

At Redwood’s first home football game, she said, “I’m really super stoked to see all of the students in the stand, and they look amazing… everyone looks so professional on the field, and I’m just stoked about it.”

Dr. Richard is looking forward to Cowhide, an annual football game against Mount Whitney High School.

She says, “[Cowhide] is like one of the biggest traditions at Redwood, and I haven’t been a part of that yet. I’m really excited to see how that rolls out.”

Dr. Richard aims to connect staff on Redwood’s main campus to staff on Sierra Vista, Redwood’s second campus. “[They are] kind of separate,” she says. “But I would like [to connect staff].”

Message to Students

“Thank you for being welcoming to me. I would say that almost every kid that I’ve talked to has been super polite and respectful, and that’s super nice for me and very welcoming. And so thank you for that.” -Dr. Richard

Dr. Richard also encourages students to “find something they love and get plugged in” to Redwood culture.
