This is Delgado’s first year taking part in drama, saying its “an awesome feeling, for sure, it’s very exciting.”
With having experiences like being in band and choir, Delgado states “Band and choir have definitely given me the extra help with preparing,” when asked if any other classes offered help with the musical’s demanding duties. He says, “especially whenever they give me solos, it has helped me learn my songs much faster.”
Relating to his character, Delgado says, “Me and Prince Eric both love the sea, we definitely share that. I go to the beach every summer. I would even go right now, but it’s too cold.”

Although he enjoys the musical very much, Delgado also claims some of the obstacles he and his cast have had to face thus far, such as, “quick-changing [his] outfits and knowing what to change into.”
Delgado also expresses his great friendship with Mara Sampietro, ‘25, who is playing Ariel in the musical, he states how, “We’re both great friends, but acting like lovers is a little challenging, making sure it seems realistic and not like it’s faked.”
Although he enjoys the community and environment of musical theater, Delgado states that it is unlikely that he pursues a career in musical theater.
“I’m still thinking about being in next year’s musical, but I might do it. I think getting a lead this year has definitely helped me out in preparing me for possibly another lead next year, and I’ll kinda know the flow of the rehearsals and everything, definitely during tech week, just because it’s so much packed in.”
To see Delgado perform in the musical, go watch the musical at the LJ William Theater on January 24th and 25th. With the 25th showing offering two showings at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets can be purchased here.
