Redwood High School is bidding farewell to one of its most well-loved teachers, Mr. Adam Higareda, as he prepares to take on a new chapter in his educational journey at Mt. Whitney High School.
Mr. Higareda, known for his engaging teaching style, has been a fixture in Redwood’s History and Law department. His journey at Redwood began after his time at Ridgeview Middle School. At Redwood, he quickly became a favorite among students for his humor, dedication, and personality.

Mr. Higareda says, “I’m going to say the biggest thing is just school spirit, every activity everyone shows up to, and not just showing up to witness it, but to be a part of it, from the cheering section at the football games, the dance show, all the things where people show up.”
His departure from Redwood comes as a surprise to many, especially given his recent arrival and the positive impact he made in such a short time. However, sources close to the situation suggest that the move to Mt. Whitney High School represents a strategic step in Mr. Higareda’s professional growth. Mt. Whitney, a rival school in Visalia, offers new opportunities and challenges that Mr. Higareda is eager to embrace.
Mr. Higareda says, “My new job was made for me, it’s everything I’ve done in the military, everything I’ve done teaching, and combines them together, and I’m looking forward to the new challenge.”
While the rivalry between Redwood and Mt. Whitney is well-known, especially during events like the annual Cowhide football game, students and staff at both schools recognize the value of passionate educators like Mr. Higareda.
“I’ll miss a lot of things, my students obviously, I’ve been with some of these students for five years now. I’ll miss my history team and people who are like-minded and here for the right reasons, yeah, and I’ll miss my classes,” says Higareda.
As Mr. Higareda prepares to join the Pioneer community, Redwood wishes him nothing but success. His legacy at Redwood will remain strong, and his impact will continue to be felt through the students he inspired.
“Don’t take life too seriously, make some time for fun, there’s always time to work hard and do stuff, but if that’s your only focus to move from one goal to the next, before you know it, you’re old and you’ve missed out,” says Higareda.
