The new school year has started up, which calls for all the athletics to begin as well. Redwood High is known for their sports, and the class of ’27 is eager to jump onto the field and represent their school.

Cash Rice, ’27, is a quarterback for the redwood football team. Rice begins by saying, “I’m very excited for this year, I’ve been working all summer with my trainer and preparing for the season.” Rice explains how he is “confident in the teams ability to do well,” and how he has very high hopes for their games. When asked about the main goal this season, Rice says, “taking our team to the championship is the goal.” He thinks that while there are, “a few things we need to work on as a team,” they are fully capable of going far this season.

Kaitlyn May, ’27, is a member of the redwood volleyball team. She starts off by saying, “I’m very excited for this season, I’ve been preparing as much as I can.” May explains how she has been “practicing every day” in preparation for her first year of high school athletics. When asked to describe her team, May says,”We have a lot of fun together, and I think we are going to accomplish a lot this year.” Being a freshman jumping into a season can be intimidating. May and Rice both agree that, “Tournaments and games against the larger schools will be a challenge.” Even with some competition, both are very confident in their teams abilities to do great things.

Lilly Iverson, ’27 is not only a part of the womens water polo team, but a starting varsity member as a freshmen. Iverson explains how much she has done to prepare for this season, “I’ve been playing water polo all summer, I even went to the junior Olympics with my team.” When asked what she is looking forward to in the season, she replies, “Just building great friendships with my teammates, and overall just building each other up as a team.” Iverson explains how important it is to value her teammates, and that is the way, “we will be successful this year.”
