Freshman and JV began their Matchups in the EYL Division as they started strong in the second half of the season.

On Thursday, October 3rd, the Freshman team started their First EYL matchups against Porterville at home and they started with a strong win at home with a final score of 41-13. Starting 1-0 in the EYL and improving their overall record to 3-3.

On Friday, October 4th, JV started their EYL division matchups at the Mineral King Bowl vs Porterville and put up a great game to start the EYL matches and pulled off a huge win with a Final Score of 28-0, moving their record up to 4-2.

Josiah Espinoza, ‘26, shared his thoughts on playing against Porterville, and said, “It was a pretty big game. We had a couple of players injured but we still brought it out, we did our thing and started off the league with 28 points.”

Last week on October 10th, the Freshman went to Monache to play for a 2-0 start in the EYL.They dominated the entire game and earned another win, with a final score of 34-0. They improved their record to 4-3 and started off EYL at 1-0.

Last week on October 11th, JV went on the road to face off against Monache as they fought for a 2-0 start in the EYL. They dominated the entire game showed no mercy, and earned another win with a final score of 35-12 improving their record to 5-2.

Issac Flores, ‘28, who plays Right tackle, shared his first thoughts on playing against the EYL teams, and said, “It felt very nice to play, It felt good to hit … and all we gotta do is grow together as we play together.” 

The next game will be against Golden West at home. Both teams will try to extend their winning streak to three wins in the EYL and continue strong until the end of the season. 

Espinoza shared that their goal for JV towards the end of the season is, “First, win against Golden West, then win the league.”
