The annual Redwood club day was last week. It was new for the Freshman and old for the Seniors. Usually, there are a couple of seniors in clubs that have been in a club for four years.
I talked with Ella Bovetti ,’20, who has been in FFA since she was a freshman. She said, “There are a lot of public speaking opportunities and it’s around agriculture,” There is also a lot of responsibility when it comes to your animal. You get to meet new and different people in the program. One of the most important things she has done in the club is, “Teaching and giving other people knowledge.” A few reasons why she joined FFA four years ago were, “I had to because of Ag, but I wanted to get involved and wanted to be in a leadership position”.
Zane Wilson, ’20, is a member of Ski Club. He says he enjoys Ski Club, “The greatest thing about ski club is spending time on the slopes with all my buddies and the experience of snowboarding/skiing with everyone you go to school with.” Ski club helped him make more friends and get closer to others and has made him a better snowboarder. One advice he gave for freshman is, ” Freshmen should join ski club if they want a new way to spark some friendships and learn how to snowboard/ski around experienced people and friendly people who will make sure they are safe and having the best time they can.”
Alondra Sanchez, ’20, is an officer of the club Ablaze. Her club is a Catholic Club that does community service. She says that it’s a good way to socialize and meet others of there community. “It has helped me to learn that meeting new people brings more relationships and helping out the community makes you feel like a good person.” One thing that she’s done with the club is going down to the SPCA and help out with the dogs all day and make them feel loved! “We make all freshmen [feel] welcome and there is free pizza! So who doesn’t love that?”
If your looking for fun and friendship definitely join clubs!
