Here’s the Five For Friday, bringing you five songs you should add to your playlist. This week’s songs are the favorite songs of Mr. Miller’s Photography class.
Micah Stipceh ’23 enjoys photography as an art form so he was interested in joining the class.
“I like having it as an expressive outlet and of course the teacher is great so I knew it would be a fantastic class.”
While being in Photography Stipceh has learned a lot about using boundaries to enhance his photos.
“Definitely to experiment and try new things but also keep in mind the boundaries of, not boundaries as in they stop me but boundaries as in they help me to convey a certain thing. Like if an image is dark, it conveys a darker feeling. I can use that to help me instead of to stop me.”
He has been enjoying the class so far and would highly recommend others to join.
“It’ll be a little bit of work but it’s totally worth it.”
Stipceh says his favorite song is ‘Endless Night’ by Tippy Balady.
“It’s a little bit of a weird recommendation but it’s so beautiful because she’s sinking to her death but she’s happy about it because she sees all these beautiful things around her. I feel like that’s a little bit of what life is like. Death is inedible but you can still appreciate the beauty.”
Jayden Wyatt ‘23 has always enjoyed taking pictures as a hobby and wanted to strengthen his photo taking abilities.
“I’ve always had a hobby with photography so I wanted to take pictures. But I never took it professionally before and never really thought of how to take a good picture without luck involved.”
In photography so far he has learned a lot about positioning, and good composition.
“...I’ve learned how to take pictures without having luck involved.”
He has been enjoying the class as well as saying if others who want to use their creativity for photos should join.
Wyatt’s favorite song is ‘Skyline To’ by Frank Ocean.
“It just helps me calm down and relax and figure out what to do. If I’m anxious about something else it just helps me calm down.”

“I’ve always just liked the idea of photography because it’s like capturing the moment and I think it’s really cool to look back on.”

Darius Coley ‘23 joined photography to try something new and saw photography as a great opportunity for him.
“I was just really bored with what I was doing and I wanted to try something new and photography was like that gate way and I’ve learned a lot. It’s starting to become more of my passion and stuff.”
In photography he has learned of many things that go into making things that are used for brands, covers and other things you may see.
“I’ve learned the different aspects of photography and editing and photoshop and all that different stuff that goes into making album covers and any type of cover, brands and stuff like that. A lot goes into it.”

“In my country we don’t have this type of opportunity where you can join electives and different types of interesting classes and I always like taking pictures and photography so when I got here and I got the opportunity to join this class I took it.”
While in photography she has learned the importance of the distance when taking a photo along with how to use a camera settings to get the picture she wants.
“I’ve learned how feet are so important to photographers and people in general because it’s like I’ve always assumed since cameras have zoom you can just zoom in anywhere but I’ve learned with moving around actually it could take better quality pictures.”
She’s been enjoying photography and all the projects they have to do in it and she also recommends photography to others.
“Everyone likes taking pictures and it’s important to know all the stuff so you can make your pictures better because now since social media is so famous and everything, people just uploads pictures all the time. So if you like it you should just learn how to do it right.”
Verdzadze's favorite song is ‘Dragonslayer’ by Lana Del Ray.
