Here’s the Five For Friday, bringing you five songs you should add to your playlist. This week’s songs are the favorite songs of the Editors of 1st period Journalism.
Mia Angulo ‘24 is the editor of Clubs & Lifestyles and has been in Journalism for three years. She first got into it because she wants to get a job as a reporter when she’s older.
“I really want to be a reporter when I’m older and I feel like this would help me gain those skills to be able to obtain that career.”
Angulo’s favorite song is ‘Lost’ by Frank Ocean.
“I feel like it’s just very upbeat and I feel like it’s just perfect for car rides. It’s a song that everyone knows and I feel like it’s just a happy song overall.”
Olivia Gonzalez ‘24 is also the editor of Clubs & Lifestyles and has been in Journalism for two years. She joined the elective to see what it really was about.
“I got into Journalism cause I wanted to talk to new people and see what it was about.”
Gonzalez’s favorite song is 'Jukebox Joints' by A$AP Rocky and Kanye West.
“I just like the beat and the mood, especially when I'm in the car. It's just like a good song to put up.”
Izzy Larsen ‘23 is the head editor of the design section where they design the school’s newspaper and magazine. Having been in Journalism for two years she first got into it because of her love for English.
“I got into it because I really like English classes and I saw this as an opportunity to continue expanding skills within the English area of learning.”
Larsen’s favorite song is ‘Vianna’ by Billy Joel.
“It’s just such a peaceful song and I like listening to classical music and songs like that are just calming and peaceful cause it just adds a nice contrast to daily life.”
Ryan Kasper ‘24 is one of the editors from the News section and has been in Journalism for three years.
“I originally when I signed up for Journalism I didn’t expect to get in, but I barely knew what it would entail. Within the first day of joining I knew it was going to be my new favorite class. I always liked writing and thought it seemed fun.”
Kasper’s favorite song is ‘House of Wolves’ by MyChemicalRomance.
“I just feel like it’s such a fast-paced, fun song. It definitely feels like a type of song you put in the car like when you’re driving somewhere to get yourself hyped up.”
Mickail Thomas ‘23 is the editor of the Entertainment section and has been in journalism for two years. Being a writer during his free time he decided to take Journalism.
“I am a writer, a creative writer on my own time so I decided a class that let me use my writing skills would be fun and I’ve enjoyed it so far.”
Thomas’s favorite song is ‘G.O.M.D’ by J. Cole.
“I enjoy the story told within it. It has some layers between the lyrics and the music video and the actual instruments used behind it. So I enjoy how they come together to create a fun song.”
