Redwood students and teachers are preparing for finals week. What are they doing to prepare?

Finals week is here, and students are doing plenty to study and prepare for the tests that are coming up.

Julissa Covarrubias, ‘27, says, “ I’m preparing by reviewing the material that we’ve learned for the past couple months. Just doing practice problems and reviewing all that stuff.”

A common theme is that students are looking over past work to prepare for finals.

Matthew Palmillas, ‘28, says, “ I’m doing what a lot of those are doing and studying. I’m looking back at old notes that I might have, and I’m also asking my teachers questions.”

Palmillas is going through his first year of high school finals which led to another question being asked which was how they felt about it.

Palmillas says, “ It’s obviously way different from the finals that we had before. You know, it’s definitely more tough work. It definitely feels a lot different. But I definitely am confident in my ability.”

Beth Musto, ‘26, says, “I am going over the study guides that the teachers gave us. Looking back in my notes if I ever need to refer back to them. I’m also praying because I’m nervous.”

The thing that most students are doing, like previously stated, is going through old notes and work.

John Saucedo, ‘25, says, “ What I’m currently doing for finals right now is I’m reviewing some work, and I’m going to look over some assignments and essays to see what I can do to be better.”

Students seem to be looking over old notes, asking questions, and doing study guides, but what are teachers doing to prepare and help students?

Math teacher Ms. Brianne Martinho says, “We’re going over various questions from each unit so that we can review each unit and then have a synopsis of what every unit was about and what the final will be about.”

Reviewing topics seems to be the most important thing that teachers are doing to prepare their students.

English teacher Ms. Elizabeth Forsythe says,  ”We’ve created stations to review the major components of AP language.”
