Donald J. Trump won the election and is officially in office as of his inauguration on January 20th.
Over 150 million Americans voted in the 2024 presidential election. Vice President Kamala Harris won the majority of female voters by an 8-point average over Trump. It wasn’t as big as Biden’s female lead in 2020, which was a 15-point average over Trump.

Female Redwood students are sharing their voice and opinion on this, as well as where they were and their first reactions when they found out.
A student who wished to stay anonymous said, “The first thing I did when I found out Trump won was text my friends who I know don’t support him, and then my family.”
The anonymous student then continued, saying, “I don’t have very strong political opinions, but I know I’m against him.”
Lucy Ng, ‘26, said, “At first I didn’t really care because I wasn’t on either side. In my opinion both of them are good people in their own ways, it didn’t really matter to me.”
Another student who asked to stay anonymous said, “Immediately, after I found out through a meme on TikTok—and checked to make sure it was real—I ran to two of my closest friends who are queer and people of color because I knew this would impact them more than anyone else.”
Elaborating further, the student continued, saying, “I was so confident Kamala was going to win because her policies made so much more sense to me. I think a part of the reason she didn’t win was because her demographic mostly consisted of people who couldn’t vote yet.”
