The pandemic has affected the lives of many students at Redwood with social distancing, but Redwood’s theater department is excited to present “Brother’s Grimm Spectaculathon”. The show must go on, and Redwood’s drama family will continue to entertain audiences.

The fall play will definitely be a success this year as it is every year due to Redwood’s drama instructor and director, Mrs. Galvan. Students involved in the fall play are rehearsing every week using zoom, and to Galvan “it is going to be challenging to work this way, but it will be worth it in the end”.

Student actors at Redwood are beyond excited to get back into acting at Redwood; ready to take on any challenge. Student actor Kelsey Myers, ’21, loves theater and excites that “rehearsals are going good”. Myers admits to some struggles using zoom “not being able to block (practice stage positioning)”. Although rehearsals have never been done this way it is worth it, Myers says, “I enjoy feeling apart of something bigger…A team again”.

Redwood theater stays strong together with everyone involved. Student actor Julia Learned, ’21, has a very positive outlook on the rehearsals saying that “I think we have great energy…” Many students look forward to the yearly fall play, to Learned “it’s already obvious that the cast is so ready to get back into the theater.” The pandemic has changed a lot for students causing different forms of stress but Learned says “It’s a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of the world right now.”

The fall play is a must-see performance with the students involved working hard together to overcome challenges and amaze audiences through a screen. In order to see the show, Mrs. Galvan says its “Just like buying a ticket…anyone who will have the access code.” The pandemic cannot take away redwood theater, Galvan says “students are up for the challenge…I am really looking forward to figuring this out.”

You do not want to miss Redwood’s yearly fall play. For more information about buying tickets ask Mrs. Galvan!
