Autumn is among us and the gradual change of weather brings many new fashion options. The weather recently has been alternating quite a bit with the season change, which makes dressing for the weather difficult for some students. However, new trends around campus, such as thrifting, are also arising.
Jasmine Luna, ‘22, noticed that dressing for fall is tricky. She says, “You could be wearing pants and a sweater in the morning and then, at the end of the day it gets so hot and you regret bringing your sweater.” Even though the weather fluctuates, colors such as yellow bring the fall vibe to Luna’s outfits. Luna likes to thrift for her fall clothes. She enjoys going to Rescued Treasures for their vast selection. Although Winter is her favorite season to dress for, fall comes at a close second since it is the beginning of the cold weather.
Similar to Luna, Nolan Martinez 20’ also thrifts at Rescued Treasures. Martinez says that he really appreciates the new weather. When asked about how his fall outfits are different from his summer ones, Martinez answers that he wears heavier clothes. This seems to be popular with other students as well. Many students like to layer clothing to work with the weather.
Emma Phillips 22′ also likes to layer different clothing pieces for a warm yet stylish look. When asked about mixing up her outfits and keeping things fresh, Phillips explains how she likes to experiment with mixing different patterns. Some of her favorite places to shop are second hand stores, Free People, and Joshua Tree. Like other students, Phillips also enjoys thrifting for her clothes.
All things considered, Fall fashion seems to be off to a nice start. Once the weather cools down more, students should be able to fully embrace their love for layering clothing and cool fall thrift finds.
