Today, April 4th, 2025, is election day at Redwood High School for the 2025-2026 school year ASB staff. Read along to get to know your candidates.
For Rally Commissioner this year, we have two amazing candidates: Adrian Lopez-Guzman ’27 and Brooklyn Anderson ’27, both sophomores at Redwood.
Starting with Lopez-Guzman, he expresses how, “I was looking up to Taylor Langford, the rally commissioner last year, and I really like enjoy our rallies, I really think that I can bring something fresh to the table with rallies.”
“I’ve looked up to both of the rally commissioners, both Taylor and Julie,” Lopez-Guzman.
When asked what the focus of his campaign has been, Lopez-Guzman states, “just to spread the word, get it out there so they know that they should vote for me today. I think also its to express how I really want to do this, and how I feel like I can make the rallies better, I can listen to other opinions too, create like this better rally for our community.”
Giving more insight into his campaign process, Lopez-Guzman states, “Lots of Instagram posts, lots of flyers, lots of sayings, lots of pictures of myself, just time.”
“I feel pretty good, its still 50/50 because my competitor is really good, and either one of us, may the best person win, but I really hope I do win this position, ” Lopez-Guzman.
Something Lopez-Guzman would like to say to voters today is, “For rallies so grand, Adrian is your man, vote Adrian for Rally commissioner.”
As our second competitor for Rally commissioner, Brooklyn Anderson ’27, expresses her feelings about today. “I feel pretty good, I think that I’ve gotten good responses from the student body which is really good, and I’ve gotten people who I didn’t even know talk to me and say that they voted for me, so I think it will go well but whatever happens is gonna be great.”
“Honestly rallies are my favorite part of school, and getting to feel that energy, and I wanted to be a part of that. I think we had a pretty good Mrs. and Mr. Ranger rally and that inspired me to take that stuff and maybe make it my own, and I wanted to be a part of that,” Anderson states.
Continuing the tradition of rally commissioner, Anderson states, “Taylor Langford and Julie Torres are some of my great friends and they’ve been such great rally commissioners in the past and have inspired me so much.”
Anderson’s message to voters today is: “Don’t take it too seriously, vote for who you want and who do you want to represent your school because it will affect you, your voice matters, and I’m grateful for everyone.”
For ASB President this year, we have three amazing candidates: Julianna Torres ’26, Sophia Diaz ’26, and Sara Sozinho ’26.
Starting with Julianna Torres, ’26, she expresses how her campaign focus has been to, “bring out the old Redwood spirit, I feel like its dulled out since the COVID years and its kind of been a little dull, so I kinda want to bring back the old Redwood spirit days, and everyone participating in everything.”
Giving insight on how she spread the word, she states, “[I got the word out] mostly through social media, we weren’t really allowed to do hand outs.”
“I definitely feel a little nervous, but I feel pretty good because I feel like whatever happens is in God’s hands, like its already written,” Torres states.
Torres expresses how, “I’ve wanted to run for ASB President since my Sophomore year, my sister was ASB President, and I really liked how she was able to bring back spirit, when she would hype up the crowd to what Redwood used to be and I guess that really inspired me to want to run for president.”
Torres’s message to voters is, “Have faith.”
The next runner is Sophia Diaz, ’26. Diaz states, “The focus of my campaign was really just to get the word out and my name out there to everyone on campus. I put posters up, and really used social media as a really big platform to get my name out.”
Diaz expresses how, “[She’s] definitely nervous, but I definitely think I did campaign as much as I should have.”
“I’ve been in ASB since I’ve been in elementary school I’ve always loved ASB and I thought you know I really should run for president I’ve loved doing it and I’ve always wanted to be an officer like this, I already am an officer so I want to continue” Diaz states.”
“I think the previous ASB presidents have all inspired me to run for president too so that’s really nice,” Diaz expresses.
Diaz’s message she wants to spread to voters is “Thank you so much if you’ve already voted for me, I really do appreciate everyone’s vote, and I really hope that it comes through.”
Last but not least, Sara Sozinho, ’26, is our final competitor. Letting us in on her focus for her campaign, Sozinho states, “[my focus is] to target all groups on campus and to reach out as many ways as I can.”
“I got the word out through social media and through talking to all my friends to tell their friends,” Sozinho states.
“I’m confident about today’s election, I think that everyone has a fair shot but I really hope I win,” Sozinho states.
“My sister motivated me to run for president because she was rally commissioner and she always just wanted me to strive to be the best” Sozinho expresses.
Sozinho’s message she wants to spread to voters is, “that if you vote for me I’m going to make a difference.”
