It’s a tradition for 4-year members of Dance Force to perform a solo choreographed by themselves, and this Dance Show features 5 solos, with Brienna Burr, ‘24, being one of this year’s performers.
Burr is a four-year Dance Force member whose favorite style is Lyrical. She’s also a Dance Force captain, and her role is Social Media Manager. Her dance journey began when she was 5 years old.
The style of Burr’s solo is lyrical/contemporary with the song being ‘All I Ask’ by Adele. She says, “[choreographing] is a struggle. You have to make out your own time, in the gym, my living room, my room.”
“It’s definitely going to be heartbreaking and bittersweet. I’m so proud of my solo.”
Burr specifically chose this song because of the emotion it has that resonates with her. She says, “The song has always been super special to me. ‘All I ask’ is saying ‘If this is the last time I’m going to be with you then let’s make it the best.’”
“This is my last time dancing so I’m gonna give it my best. I’m gonna give it my all and leave my heart out on the dance floor,” says Burr.
“Dance was my first love and this solo is my goodbye. It’s my love letter. My thank you to dance, for all you’ve given me.”
